The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) was last reauthorized twenty years ago, in 2004. While the rules haven’t changed in two decades, the landscape of special education certainly has. Join us as we walk through the key program compliance requirements of IDEA, Part B, including child find, evaluations, IEPs, discipline, significant disproportionately, equitable services, and state complaint and due process complaint procedures. We will also highlight the IDEA’s fiscal requirements, such as maintenance of financial support and maintenance of effort, supplement not supplant, excess costs and allowable use of funds.
