Managing Federal Grants During COVID-19 and the Resulting Funding Cliff

Registration has closed !! Contact us to be placed on the waiting list.

Or…Save The Date for Spring Forum 2021 (May 5-7 2021)

December 1 – 3, 2020

12:00 PM – 4:00 PM EST

Presented by Brustein & Manasevit, PLLC & Invited Speakers

For the past two decades, the BruMan team has made our attorneys available to you at our Forums to provide timely answers to emerging questions regarding the administration of federal education grants. Due to the continuing concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, our firm, in conjunction with key officials from the Office of Management and Budget, the U.S. Department of Justice, and the U.S. Education Department, will be conducting our Forum virtually and though we acknowledge that there are more questions than answers on the impact of COVID-19, we remain committed to be available to you and will provide you with the very latest information on how best to administer your federal grants.

Why should you join us for this event? Here are the top reasons (though there are MANY more)…

1. The Forum is 4 weeks after the national election which, regardless of the outcome, will likely redefine and restructure the federal role and impact federal support for education, which our legislative team will address in detail.

2. The UGG is currently under revision and will be updated this fall…so you NEED our updated EDGAR book (a pre-ordered copy is included with every registration!!!).* Plus we have invited OMB to discuss the updates to the UGG!

3. The COVID guidance and flexibility is ever changing…through Congressional actions such as the CARES Act, OMB guidance, ED waivers, etc. – if you have programmatic or administrative responsibility for ESEA, IDEA, Perkins CTE, AEFLA or WIOA, we will summarize where the laws stand and how they affect supplanting and other fiscal program issues.

4. In light of all the supplemental funding from the CARES Act and other federal stimulus measures, there is a renewed focus on fraud. Congress has augmented appropriations for the Inspector General and we can expect an exponential increase on federal audit activity. Our expert speakers from ED and DOJ OIG will address fraud prevention and identify those areas most ripe for audit scrutiny. We will also be joined by the Director of ED's Risk Management Service to discuss the steps being taken by ED to help build the capacity of grantees and subgrantees to strengthen financial management systems.

We know you have choices when it comes to professional development. However, we continue to believe that our Forums are among the premier learning platforms. We will answer your questions and provide you with the most up to date information available that impacts your responsibility to properly manage federal grant dollars. Registrations also provides you with live attendance and the recordings of each session so you don't have to worry about missing any information! Don't miss out!!

*Each registration includes one pre-ordered copy of our updated EDGAR 5th Ed. Released date TBD. (based on when UGG update is released, hopefully prior to forum!)
